@Framasoft yes, indeed we do need an alternative, but with this kind of projects I wonder how could them be sustainable on a long run. Hosting a streaming service like this will be expensive, and while removing ads may sound good on a first look, it will make it hard to get the resources needed.

Not really: if you go to https://joinpeertube.org you'll see that install, maintain and upgrade PeerTube is quite cheap because:
* every sysadmin could install his/her own instance of peertube (+100 instances actually)
* every instances can talk to each others (search on "miaowtube" shows results from "dogtube" and "rabbittube")
* PeerTube use WebTorrent to lower bandwith usage of instances
